About
The Domain
Disparue.org was purchased on November 3rd, 2005. It remained inactive for quite sometime, until I decided to host my screencaps & icons on it. It then evolved into my online portfolio in the summer of 2006.
It was registed via Name Cheap and is hosted with Dreamhost, that I would recommend to anyone looking for a good host with resonable pricing and who never wants to worry about bandwidth again.
The Webmistress
Emma(-Jane), 23, red-head, fun-loving, whacked-out Frenchised Brit. History student (pretending to be a web designer). Sense of humour and life-loving. Apple juice and Jack Russells. Mental age: 4. Michael Vartan. Random and Sensitive. David Tennant. Little Brother and Cooking. Domain & DVD whore. Type-O's and Shoes. Guitar Players and Vodka (or the other way round).
I started making websites in 1998, when my mum bought me my very own laptop for my 16th birthday. I came with a graphic program, Corel Photo Paint 8. I started messing around making graphics - and officially opened my first website in 1999. It was dedicated to my favorite TV Show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was hosted on geocities and the layout was pretty basic. I learnt HTML little by little and really got into graphic making, especially after friend of mine gave me a copy of Photoshop 5.5.
After trying out a few free hosts - namely envy.nu & virtue.nu (before they got all covered in ads) and getting into fanlistings, I decided it was time to get my own paid space & domain. I purchased the domain lost-illusions.net in 2001. I then got slayerweb.org & buffy-web.com for my Buffy site, justlikeapill.com for my blog & a-freak-like-me.com for my art site. I also owned emma-caulfield.org, which was a fansite dedicated to the actress and the character she portrayed on Buffy. The site was called Finesse out of the bottom and I really treasured it. I also ran a rather huge James Marsters fansite called Purely James Marsters for a while; as well as a popular Juliet Landau site Juliet Net.
In 2003, I fell badly ill and pretty much quit all internet 'life' for several months. As soon as I was better, I came back with pretty much everything to start over again. I ressurected my Buffy site that can be found here. I went out and registered a new domain, exit47.org.
Still wanting to run sites, but no longer having time to take care of full-blown sites, I got back into fanlistings. I also started trouble-checking for TFL and in January 2005, I became a staffer. I now run over 70 fanlistings dedicated to varied subjects - you can check them all out at audiohype - and in Summer 2005 it took over the fantastic network Freeze Frame from Tlace.
The Fangirl
Hi my name is Emma and I'm a fangirl. Yes, I'm obsessive. Just this side of crazy. When I was little I was mad about ice-skating, I then discovered Kylie Minogue (the 80's version, with the bad clothes and crappy perm), after that it was crappy pre-teen TV shows. As I turned 15 it was the Spice Girl's big break, and I loved them (and I'm not afraid to admit it, lol). I had the ponytails, the platform shoes, the mini-skirts... Girl Power! lol. What's my excuse? Well I was 15.
Then I found the fandom: Buffy the vampire Slayer. I was instantly hooked and I wanted to find out more so I checked out the official site then a search on yahoo, only to discover a whole new world out there: personal fansites!!
